I was thinking about a complete adapter. While installing the driver it warned that older serial numbers wouldn’t work. Stay away from these cheap blue things. If it doesn’t do the job, you can take it back. It worked great on XP and Vista and was my preferred adapter in most cases. Many brands use FTDI chips.
